Pho-Inspired Beef Soup (Low Carb)

I quit my job last week.

I realized a change needed to happen when I was eating my dinner between sobs on my 30 minute break and asking my boyfriend for reassurance in my other skills. Continue reading Pho-Inspired Beef Soup (Low Carb)

Ginger and Cilantro Meatball Soup (Low Carb)

Some news! Well, by now this isn’t really news, but we quit our jobs and packed up our apartment in Toronto late November to move as far as we possibly could across the country. I gave Toronto a chance for three years but I was never crazy about that city. Luckily, I have an incredibly supportive partner that would make such a big move with me. We escaped Ontario winter just in the knick of time to mild and rainy-wintered Victoria, BC.

Purple Cabbage Roll Soup

I was excited to hear from Helena over at Low Carb Lovelies when I found out she wanted to feature me as a guest poster on her very impressive and dedicated blog. We were lucky enough to find each other in the world of WordPress and she was looking for a soup to warm her bones. Just as a chill has been settling in where she lives in Australia, it has been heating up here in Toronto. Normally this is where I put a pause on all things soup for the summer, yet I excitedly accepted the offer, as I had loads of chicken stock in my freezer to use up before summer truly sets in here. Chicken Fajita Soup (Low Carb)

Most of my soup recipes start as a quick thought I’ll jot down and then save in my gmail account draft folder as an unsent email entitled “recipes”. I usually have a few soup ideas written down at a time and I’ll slowly add ingredients to each idea when I think of what would work well.

Simple Cream of Celery Soup (Low Carb, Vegetarian)

Sometimes I get so carried away in creating such complex soup recipes that I forget to include the easier ones I’ve tried out that require few ingredients and little time. Continue reading Simple Cream of Celery Soup (Low Carb, Vegetarian)

Simple Homemade Turkey Stock (Low Carb)

This stock is super simple and it’s so flavourful that you needn’t fuss with any additional ingredients, such as vegetables, if you don’t feel like it.

This is a great way to use up holiday turkey leftovers. I usually freeze my bones and forget all about them for a few months. I made this using frozen bones from Christmas. It is now well past the holiday season. This stock would make a great turkey stew if you had any leftover meat. I used it to make my Sriracha Turkey Chili recipe. Chicken and Shrimp Green Curry (Low Carb)

Today’s post features a guest writer. The Soupy Stovetop kitchen was once again graced with the presence of my good friend, Dan. You may remember him from such recipes as Pork and Pancetta Chili Soup, and The BBT: Bacon Basil Tomato Soup. Continue reading Chicken and Shrimp Green Curry (Low Carb)

Spicy Cauliflower and Jalapeño Soup (Low Carb, Vegetarian)

After more than a year of blogging about soups and experiencing the many frustrations of using an upright blender, I have finally got my hands on an immersion blender.

It’s about time, no? Continue reading Spicy Cauliflower and Jalapeño Soup (Low Carb, Vegetarian)

Pork and Pancetta Chili Soup (Low Carb)

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset

One of my closest pals came to hang out with me during the holiday this year. We’ve made it somewhat of a tradition to buy enough alcohol to last us days, watch terrible horror movies, and make nontraditional holiday meals together.

Smokey Bacon and Jalapeño Cheddar Soup (Low Carb)

Adopting a low carb lifestyle hasn’t been easy. Especially since I love food more than I love almost anything on the planet. If it were up to me, I’d quit my job in a heartbeat just to hang out in the kitchen all day long. I would eat only the most delicious foods and create the most complex meals. Of course, I’d also be able to eat whatever I wanted without feeling like human garbage in this magical, fictional scenario. Continue reading Smokey Bacon and Jalapeño Cheddar Soup (Low Carb)
